5/16/2013 Summer shows, recording update

Hey everyone!  It's been a few months since we posted some news for you, so here's some info!  We are still in the studio putting the finishing touches on the new album.  Brandon is laying down the vocals over the next few weeks, and then pretty soon we'll start mixing.  Looks like a late summer/early fall release...the sooner the better!  Of course we'll have an epic CD release show to celebrate...stay tuned for the date, the awesome local openers, and the super-secret RAD venue that we plan to have it at! 

We also just updated our summer calendar with some cool festivals and events, as well as some fun outdoor and waterfront shows.  It's going to be the summer of MO!  See you on the dance floor.

3/24/2013 Water Street Music Hall show with RMB!

We are super pumped to announce that we will once again be sharing the stage with one our favorites, the Ryan Montbleau Band!  The show will be Friday, April 12th at Water Street Music Hall.  Doors at 7PM, and the night will flip-flop back and forth between the Club and Main Stage in the Hall with several awesome bands.  Show is 16+, with $12 advance sale tickets ($15 day of the show).  You can get more information and purchase tickets online HERE.  Can't wait for this show!

1/3/2013 WWFD Benefit Show at Firehouse Saloon

We are honored to be a part of this very important event on Sunday, January 6th at the Firehouse Saloon.  A $10 donation is suggested at the door to help the families who were affected by the tragedy that took place in our hometown on December 24, 2012.

12/13/2012 End of the year plans!

Happy almost Winter! We have some great shows planned for the remainder of the year...really hoping the world doesn't end! We are super pumped for our return to The Club @ Water Street playing alongside some GREAT local acts, plus we are playing a Pre-New Year's Eve Bash to celebrate the return of live music at the completely renovated Richmond's Tavern!  Should be an awesome couple of shows!

9/27/2012 We are playing Meliora Weekend!

 We have just confirmed that we will be playing at a huge University of Rochester Alumni Event during Meliora Weekend!  The event was so big last year, that they are renting the Rochester Main Street Armory for this year's party!  We are honored to be a part.  Keynote speakers and perfomers for Meliora Weekend 2012 include Barbara Walters and Craig Ferguson...not too shabby!  Even though this event is geared towards U of R alum, it is open to ALL.  18+ (must show valid ID to drink).  Some fun things going on include a Kan Jam tournament sponsored by Monster Energy, 2 huge bars, a corn hole tournament, and more!

2/10/12 MoChester unveils "MoChester LIVE"

We are happy to announce the birth of our latest endeavor - MoChester LIVE! If all goes well, we expect to have LIVE ONLINE STREAMING at most (if not all) of our future shows! The MO is going viral...ROC!!

There are a few ways to hear the LIVE stream:

1. listen on Facebook by clicking the "Live Stream" link in the left sidebar
2. listen on your phone by downloading the free SHOUTcast app, then find the "MoChester Live" station
3. OR you should be able to copy and paste this link into your browser: http://24.213.219.154:8000/listen.pls which will allow you to listen with iTunes or WinAmp, or any other media player that reads .pls files

One of those ways should work for you. If you have trouble with anything, try refreshing your screen or stopping and re-starting the player. If SHOUTcast acts up, simply delete and redownload the app.

1/19/12 WXXI "OnStage" Viewing Party

Come to our party!  We'd love for you all to join us at Shamrock Jack's for the premiere of our episode of WXXI's "OnStage" ! The live performance that was filmed back in October of 2011 will finally be seen on television on Sunday, January 29th at 7:00PM. Come down to Shamrock's and enjoy free pizza, along with great drink specials from Genesee Beer, and most importantly, MoChester on big screen TVs with the sound up throughout the bar! Party starts at 5:30PM!

12/28/11 Premier of WXXI "OnStage"

Please tune in to WXXI on Sunday, January 29th at 7:00PM for MoChester's episode of OnStage! The band was chosen to have a live performance filmed in front of a studio audience; check out the finished product on TV!

12/1/11 MoChester to open for RMB

We are happy to announce that we will be performing in support of the Ryan Montbleau Band and The Brew at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse, NY on December 8, 2011. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the venue's website.

10/14/11 MoChester to appear on WXXI's "OnStage"

Big news!  We are thrilled to announce that MoChester has been selected to be featured on the 3rd season of the WXXI television series "OnStage"! OnStage gives a live, intimate look at original bands from upstate NY and the surrounding region. 12 bands were selected from almost 150 applicants to have a live performance filmed before a studio audience. Past artists who have appeared on the program include Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Mike Doughty (of Soul Coughing), the Chesterfield Kings, and more.

The episode will air on television sometime during 2012. Each show is one hour long and features 2 bands. Each band will perform a 30 minute set. More details about the premiere of the program will be announced soon! Check out the OnStage page on the WXXI website for more information about the show!

8/11/11 MoChester slated to open for BNL

Awesome!  We are opening for Canadian alternative rock group, Barenaked Ladies at Finger Lakes casino and Racetrack on Wednesday, August 17, 2011! BNL is best known for their singles "If I Had $1,000,000", "One Week", "Pinch Me", "The Old Apartment", and "Brian Wilson". They have been nominated for numerour Juno and Grammy awards, and won two Billboard Music Awards in 1998 for "One Week".

We confirmed the gig hot off the trails of two big performances for us at Rochester's East End Music Festival and Party in the Park. The upcoming show with BNL will mark the biggest opportunity for us in our 10-year history! Tickets for the August 17th show can be purchased through tickets.com and are only $12 for general admission.

6/20/11 MoChester wins "Roc Star Rivalry"

Spreading more MO!  MoChester was featured this morning on the Wease Show on 95.1 The Fox as a contender in the show's Roc Star Rivalry competition. Roc Star Rivalry pairs two bands against each other each Monday morning for 10 weeks to vie for a spot as an opening band for Rochester's "Party in the Park" summer concert series, which takes place every Thursday night in the summer at the Riverside Festival Site. We were paired against local band "Funknut", and sample songs were played on the air for each band. After hearing our single "Crackerjack Tattoos", Wease and the other show hosts voted to a unanimous decision, and we got picked to open the July 14th show supporting Grammy winning latin ensemble, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra!

MoChester excited for fresh start, new tunes, and summer in the Roc

After 10 years of performing original pop/rock driven music, Jonathan Sheffer of MoChester feels the band has yet to leave its mark on its namesake town of Rochester, NY. The keyboard player/vocalist is hoping, however, that things are looking up this summer with the release of MoChester's debut album, Stop and Go.

"I feel like we've been flying under the radar for so long, and everything is finally coming together for us." says Sheffer of the band. "My brother (Brandon Sheffer, lead singer/guitarist of MoChester) wrote these songs when we were kids in high school. Finally getting a chance to hear Stop and Go as a finished product has breathed new life into these songs for all of us. We couldn't be more excited to get on stage and share this album with everyone who has supported us along the way."

In addition to the Sheffer brothers, bass player Ben Overmyer and drummer Alex Melville round out the lineup for MoChester. Overmyer is the newest member of the band, having joined this past winter. The vast majority of the music played by the group is original, with a few select dance-worthy covers thrown in (think Stevie Wonder and Al Green). The band has struggled in the past to define their sound by a specific genre, but says they have been compared to mainstream acts such as OAR and Incubus, with "harmony-rich hooks and a feel-good vibe" that will get crowds moving.

MoChester will hold their Official Stop and Go CD Release Party on June 23rd at Hooligan's Eastside Grill in Webster, NY. Fans can expect a live performance from the band, as well as giveaways and more. Stop and Go will also be pre-released online for download (via iTunes, Amazon, etc.) on June 9th. The 11-track album features the infectiously catchy "Crackerjack Tattoos" as its debut single for the summer.
